Spiritual Energy
There is so much that can be said about this supreme form of energy which, inasmuch as "The Word" of St John's Gospel, not only was in the beginning but also was in God and WAS God. A Word that pervades this universe and all universes down to their last atom and which in fact is the Spirit of God, the so-called Holy Spirit, also known as the OM – the Holy Name or Sacred Syllable of the Eastern tradition.
Say the Hindu scriptures that in the beginning Narayana, God, exhales all the hundreds of thousands of Universes. And that in doing so, He gives commence to a chain of cosmic events in which the four material elements are created, in succession, out of a first element that neither is quite spiritual, nor is it quite material but is mid way between both: it is the Akasha principle of Vedanta and the Quintessence or Ether of the cabalists, also referred to by Buddhists as Space, which not only fills the entire universe down to the last particle but also, inasmuch as the principle and basic constituent of everything material in the world - including us and all other living entities - perpetually activates, by its own power, the entire process of creation.

Narayana as the Cosmic Principle
Furthermore, this supreme form of Energy is perpetually contained in pranatogether with the air that we breathe and also in the food that we eat and the water that we drink. It enlivens and nurtures us humans and all animals and plants and sustains this whole universe; in its absence, we quite simply could not live, and this universe could not exist: it would disappear.
Now this is the theory behind it, one that in its more formal way is mainly exposed by the Advaita Vedanta system of the Hindus (*) And in essence, it is a knowledge that belongs in the realm of Metaphysics, which by its own nature cannot even be approached - let alone fully understood – because to begin with, we lack the words to do it properly - all the more in the western countries.
But what about the practice? Can this Spiritual Energy be approached, say, in a direct way?
Well yes, it can. But we need a genuine and divinely empowered spiritual master to show us the way.
Otherwise it is through a symbolic and highly intuitive approach that we can understand how.
Elsewhere I have explained how a simple symbol, the circle with a dot in itscenter, can help us understand certain metaphysical truths that are so high and deep in their essence that are extremely difficult to approach - let alone to know in full, as has just been said above. In this circle, which symbolizes the universe, the central dot represents the Spiritual Principle, God, acting like a central Sun; and the rest of the circle represents the material universe with us, humans, at its circumference. Yet the center, inasmuch as the Principle of this circle, is the essential part of it without which it could not exist.
And if we want to figure out how does the Spiritual Principle reaches us to enliven and nurture us by its Divine Energy, we can imagine that it is through the innumerable radios which - like the spokes of a wheel - fill the intermediate space between the center and us. This Spiritual Principle not only has created the entire universe including us, but actually travels through, and pervades it through this medium.

The center of a spoked-wheel as a symbol of God. Here the wheel only
has 24 spokes, but they are supposed to be infinite in number
In a way, this Supreme Form of Energy is ALL that is, and everything else is but a lower vibration of it.
At the other end of the circle. i.e. on its circumference, are we humans occupying it in the form of the infinite dots that this circumference consists of, together with all animals and plants and everything else material in this planet. And here does the magic of the Spiritual Energy acts itself: we essentially live and thrive thanks to the energy of the oxygen that enters our bodies and nurtures every one of our cells as we inhale the vivifying air filled with the divineprana that it contains and which ultimately comes from God.
And it is also through the magic of this same symbol, the circle, that we can additionally perceive how prodigious this Spiritual Energy is: if now the circle symbolizes us and no longer the universe, then it will be our own heart that will be represented by its center, as will our arteries and veins be represented by its innumerable, invisible radios; and these arteries and veins will be carrying the vital prana in the oxygen branched out from our hearts, and contained in our blood, down to the last cell in our bodies to enliven and nurture them – just like that same divine prana has been just carried from God in the center of the universe to its periphery to enliven and nurture all of us - in fact, all living entities in the universe.

(*) NOTE: In the Vedantic concept, there is an all pervading Brahman slowly stirring into movement and the emanation of a basic vibration, a sound called the Omkara. From this basic vibration, in space, called the Akasha principle, manifests thevayuprinciple, the agni principle, the jala principle and the prithvi principle (i.e. the four material elements: respectively air, fire, water and earth).
