My name is Helga Reich. I am originally from Bremen Germany.
In 1959 I made the decision to come to America. I have been involved in Music - I learned to play the c-Flute at age 5, then the piano, the mandolin, mandola and the guitar. My Father was member of a mandolin orchestra, my sister joined also and when I was about 14 I wanted to be part of it too. I played for about 10 years. When I was 16 I started working in a handweaving mill as apprentice for 3 years and got my diploma. Then the company folded up and I went to work for a Cotton Broker 'Nauman Sr.'and from there I got a job with a Cotton Firm in Houston TX as a Cotton Fiber Technician. On a Lykes Line Freighter it took 11 days from London to New Orleans, then to Houston, where I spend 6 years working for Goedecke Cotton Brokers. After the company merged with Memphis TN, I worked for Sinclair Houston Credit Union. After that it was General Electric Credit Union in Atlanta Ga. I got interested in decorating cakes, started catering to weddings, had more business than I could handle. Had some bad luck and started a new life in California. Being second Mom to 12 kids in my Daycare for about 12 years has taught me a lot of patience and I learned a lot about people in general. I lost my husband in 1999 and took me a few years to realize that life is worth living anyway. My interests have changed a bit. My love for computers is demanding more hours every day. My other hobbies are beading and taking care of my cat Doodles
